Dear Rebar:
I work across the street from 235 Pine, and having investigated at lunch today, am not sure if there IS a po-po associated w/ that building? I entered the lobby, asked the concierge which floor the roof-garden was on, to which he replied: "there ain't one." Please advise. These appear to be my options: (1) assess the exterior po-po (that coffee shack tucked into a crevice in the blg facade?) (2) trespass & explore the floors til I find the public space you mention (3) assess the lobby. I plan to take pictures.

You guys are hot. I love this project.

Dear XXXXX,

235 Pine! Why will you not show your face! This is what we yell into the howling wind each night at Rebar Headquarters. We have also looked for it, also to no avail. While our staff of lawyers advises me that we cannot ask you to trespass, I can say that this POPO is neither the lobby nor the coffee shack. We would love for you to investigate further, if you're able. Please do take pictures. Security guards, building personnel and employees may hold clues. It is on the official SF planning office map. If we cannot locate it, we may remove it from our investigation. But perhaps your investigation itself will become a little piece of art we can post. [?] Or perhaps we'll just create this POPO where it should be. We'll await your findings. Meanwhile, please stay tuned. We plan to launch a new version of the COMMONspace website shortly, with more site investigations and full blogging abilities. We can post your notes. If I may, I will add you to our list of 'A-list' COMMONspace volunteers.

I am up for Mission 235. I will conduct myself professionally & innocently: “oh sorry, I did not know I am not allowed in the vent shaft!” I can actually see a roof-garden from my office that appears to link 235 Pine & the adjacent building on Pine (Beal Bank.) I’ll let you know what I find out. Yes please, add me to the list of volunteers/urban sleuths.

p.s. A category of POPO exists that is begs to be named: SmoPOPO? POPOs inhabited only by smokers on breaks. This is b/c the parks offer nothing other than a sunless wind-tunnel of hard landscape. The smokers wouldn’t even go there if they weren’t so desperate. This is, I believe, the lowliest of the varieties of POPOs.
