  An off-site POPOS!
One stipulation of SF Zoning Code Section 138 is that POPOS must be located within 900 feet of the development that gets the density bonus. "Empire Park"--the street name of 505 Montgomery is around the corner from the building itself.

Looking in off Commercial Street at Empire Park. It's kind of a Paley Park-style vestpocket.

A little closer to the entrance.

Lots of tables, chairs, benches... almost all are movable, to follow the sun across the small square.

This POPOS is surrounded by Chinatown apartments, whose kitchens and bedrooms front onto the space. One waiter at a nearby restaurant told me that when guys from the financial district were generally being loud and rowdy here one night after visiting a nearby bar, one of the residents started not-so-subtly tossing bottles at them from an upper story window. Was the gate left open after "daylight hours"?

Getting there
The public open space provided by 505 Montgomery Street is actually not on location. It is located mid-block on Commercial Street, between Montgomery and Kearny Street. Keep a watchful eye out for the decorated sidewalk and black gate.

Surveillance & Gatekeepers
Since this site is far from the corporate building, there are no surveillance cameras or security guards nearby. Keep in mind that the true gatekeepers of this site are the tenants of the apartments that surround this small pocket park. Look out for falling water or flying bottles if you decide to become rowdy at inappropriate times.

Local Dress & Behavior
Since the space is along a small commercial and residential street, it feels more like a public park than a corporate plaza. Business boardroom clothing to street casual are accepted in this very casual and relaxed environment. If smoking, stepping outside onto the sidewalk may be a good idea if the park is crowded. Otherwise, cell phone use, eating, conversing, and being alone are all acceptable behaviors.
